printmaking, forever.
(this photo & post are from April, from my instagram @vbee, but I just really felt like it needed to be posted here, xo)
I can’t show you everything just yet, because I haven’t processed any of the recent events of this past week / weekend because I was nonstop busy to make them happen but I just started crying uncontrollably & it’ll probably continue thru the night & happen randomly the next few days / weeks / months / years because I’m experiencing#allthefeels & cannot handle how eternally grateful I am that I get to do what I do here & now & that I moved to Lubbock for a silly reason & then started grad school here & one my first teaching assistantships included a class taught by Dirk & he brought some letterpress posters one day & then another day let me borrow a press that was in my tiny darkroom & I spent hours in there then more & more people came thru & I met Chad & Charles & they listened to me & letterpress started at CASP then I stayed for my MFA & now I am an#artistinresidence here until December & I have met some amazing people who are also hardworking & passionate & recently @shes_the_manda_ came into my studio & told me about a group of young women who are rape survivors who get together & make art to heal & I’ve had a gun pointed at me & a friend who didn’t listen & other stories & know too many other people with stories & especially here & now their voices need to be heard & Amanda & her friends were brave enough to show their artwork & writings in Studio 4 for #firstfridayarttrail which thousands of people attended but it didn’t stop there because there was also an interactive wall that other people could tell their stories & words of healing & it’s completely filled & overflowing & I don’t know if you realize how powerful & great it is but I was in the print studio last night with the best helpers who helped me sell out of prints & overheard so many people telling of how moved they were by the whole event but it doesn’t stop there because today lots of people came into the print studio to help us#screenprint hundreds of individual pages for coloring books from kids to adults & their prints filled two huge racks & this is only a detail & then we assembled them & they’re going to organizations who help people locally next week because#youarenotalone...EVER.
